Rewind: 2020

2020 was one hell of a roller coaster ride. The first couple of months were really tough for us as a family. But we did it! 💗

Today being the last day, I just went through all my photos from this year. It’s been a wonderful year with a fair mix of ups and downs and way too many unexpected things.

This was the year I, :

  • really learned to come in terms with failure and setbacks and still keep going - writing things down helped!
  • did a lot of solo traveling across states, visited 2 cities I’d only read about in history books.
  • got stuck in a very far away remote village hospital asking around for a gazetted officer, where I didn’t even know the language and sign language didn’t help, as all I got was stares 😂 and yeah nobody also knew English or Hindi. Plus this is the only place I’ve ever seen Google maps fail, a lot of things didn’t exist in real life when they were up on Maps, and I don’t mean to say small shops, but big buildings and government offices. 😯
  • tried my first Uber bike ride, it was crazy and fun 😂
  • attended my first job interview (and yeah I lost it at the last stage 😅)
  • was stranded at home, all alone for more than 2 months (thanks to the COVID-19 lockdown) and had to learn to cook and survive on my own 😳 - and yay I did it! I haven’t experienced this strange mix of freedom and responsibility ever. 😂
  • took health seriously and right before the lockdown I was almost covering 8km on average every single day (walking/jogging) in the morning followed by badminton. Things waned off midway when I had to go under quarantine 😂, but now its back in full form.
  • prioritized sleep and turned all the way around to be a morning person. My day now starts at 05:00 and I sleep mostly by 23:30. I’ve stopped experimenting with sleep. I really enjoy the good dreamy REM sleep I have almost every other day.
  • got to spend a really long time with family, all of us together. I’ll forever be grateful for this time. 💗
  • started doing my masters (fully online) and have also started making some real money 🤑 working part-time for a company
  • I saw my second shooting star after a gap of nearly 10 years. 😳 It was a starry early morning sky and I quickly saw three stars lined up, I was glad that I spotted the Orion, that’s when one of it started moving and it took a while for me to realize that it was actually a shooting star and I saw it slowly move apart and fade away as it burned.

Argghh…I’ll go on and on about this year. It was filled with negativity, all around and things I’ve mentioned above were the tiny peaks in the big valley of 2020. COVID-19 has taken a lot of lives, many people have lost their loved ones, my heart goes out to all of them. Hoping for an end to the pandemic in the new year!

Goodbye 2020!
