Transcend Storejet250 HDD at stake!
Another dead HDD. Plug it in, lights up, you can hear the disc spinning and then it stops suddenly with a click.
My brother’s pretty sure that he hasn’t dropped it. Even if he did, that StoreJet was drop tested according to US military standards (Transcend flaunted this information on the disk’s cover).That

- Removed the protective rubber covering.

- Pricked the silver hologram stickers to reveal hidden screws

- Unscrewed the enclosure

- Removed the shock absorbing material

- With the SATA to USB mini adaptor removed

- The HDD
Okay so Transcend uses Samsung’s hard disks. (Fairly common practice in the electronics industry). - The SATA to USB mini adapter.

- Next in line : THe HDD control circuitry


- Carefully removed the circuit

- Aha…some fine particles…felt smooth…probably caused due to some part wear and tear happening inside.

- I’ll probably need the SATA converter in the future.

I did indeed need the converter when I swapped the above HDD with a one that worked.
